LENA, Early Talk, & the Power of Responsive Interactions in Supporting IECMH in VA Beach

LENA stands for Language ENvironment Analysis.  It is a professional development program for child care providers that teaches them how to boost the frequency of interactive speech with the children in their care.   Digital devices worn by the child and teacher measure the number of conversational turns taken during the day.  As we know, verbal interaction has a big impact on language acquisition and brain development in infants and toddlers. Barb will share data she has collected measuring important outcomes they have documented as a result of this program. Josetta will frame all this through an Infant Mental Health lens.
